A unique challenge of being a Chuku is that everytime you're in a situation where your name is to be documented, you're going to say;
"My name is ( [inserts first name] Chuku ), please no W" 😭😁
This is because generally in Igbo culture the spelling of Chukwu (diety, God) has the letter 'W' and most people will quickly spell it that way which can alter the validity of a document.
While there's a folk history, that has it that our own variation of the spelling 'Chuku' which is predominantly found in Ikwere Rivers State, was because our grand father Mark Onwugharaonye Chuku as a teacher had contact with the whites during the colonial times, and it's through this that the variation was established.
The fact is that Chuku is also Ozuitem. According to Mrs Ngozi Chuku , Mazi Uchennaya explained to her the spelling is consistent with how we spell 'Uku' (big) in Ozuitem compared to 'Ukwu' (big) in Igbo izugbe.
